Safety

Last updated August 2026. This is a Chord app policy page written in plain language — it is not legal advice.

Community rules

Chord is 18+. No harassment, hate speech, threats, impersonation, sexual content involving minors, or sharing anyone's private information.

Reporting and moderation

You can report a profile, message, or room post from within the app. Reports go to a moderation queue that only administrators can read. We may remove content, restrict features, or close accounts. Open-mic text in shared rooms is automatically filtered for slurs and profanity.

Your controls

You choose what to reveal and when. Privacy settings let you hide your squad and your connection graph from matching. Any opt-in visibility window is short and turns itself off automatically.

Meeting in person

  • Meet somewhere public the first few times.
  • Tell a friend where you're going and when you expect to be back.
  • Arrange your own transport.
  • Don't send money, gift cards, or crypto to someone you met online.

Outing links open external third-party booking services; Chord does not handle those payments.

Emergencies

If you're in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services first. Then report the account so we can act on it.
